The South African Students Congress (SASCO) remains determined that the Presidency must receive its memorandum and the government of the day must speedily address the issues raised about the TVET sector.

It is in this light that this morning, 15 October 2020 the 21st National Executive Committee (NEC) led by President Bamanye Matiwane together with PYA and NEHAWU will be going back to the Union Buildings at 11:00 to submit its memorandum which the Presidency must accept and commit to respond to.

We remain deeply concerned by the trigger happy South African Police Services (SAPS) members who elected to shoot at unarmed students unprovoked.

We are jubilant at the release of our activists who were arrested and we will support them as they go through processes until they are cleared as there is no proof that our disciplined forces caused any harm or threatened any life.

We call on our activists to continue being responsive to the action and that they must not lose hope and momentum. They must be prepared to start the revolution as we give the cabinet 14 days to respond to our demands which are genuine, the ANC and its government must be reminded that some of our demands are part of their manifesto which we as students voted for.
